Quilt show goodness!

Three things to be happy about:
(1) Nabisco 100 cal cookies
(2) the robins of spring
(3) eye candy!

What says "spring!" better than a quilt show??

After guild meeting on March 21 most of us made our way to the Southern Comforters quilt show - so much eye candy to enjoy!

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, but certain techniques always catch my eye...

Beautiful applique!

Bright happy colors!

Quilts that make you smile!

Just great eye candy!

And I love the creative ways they say "please don't touch the quilts!"

Great show!  Sew forth and sew on til later...

Service day at the guild

Three things to be happy about:
(1) spring!
(2) helping hands
(3) a worthwhile project

Since March 21 was national quilting day, our guild meeting this month was focused on creating kits for Days for Girls International, one of our community service projects. Please visit their web site to see what this worthy organization is all about...

We had a great turnout for our community service day, and it was actually fun!

Cutting...

Sewing...

Pressing...

trimming...

kitting up...

every hand was needed and appreciated!

Sew forth and sew on til later...

Face-off at the bee!

Three things to be happy about:
(1) taking a break
(2) being missed while taking a break
(3) coming back after taking a break!

Hi everyone!  Sorry this break was such a long one,  but I just plain got lazy and didn't want to blog for awhile.  They say if you say a thing three times it must be true - I got variations of "you haven't updated your blog lately - what's going on??" from at least 4 different people so it must be true!

OOPS!!

So much for that, moving right along...

Face-off at the bee???  Nah!

Yesterday at our bee Sandy E (Sistahstitchalot), our resident portrait expert, kindly led a workshop on making faces.

This isn't the first time I've taken a portrait workshop - I took one under Bisa Butler in 2011 and I chose a pallet of bright colors so mine would look just like Bisa's.

Well, it didn't take long for me to realize I'm not Bisa Butler!

Sandy has made oodles and oodles of portraits!  She's a great workshop leader, very patient and takes time to explain what we need to know.

Over and over again!

Felicia the Slow Quilter made great progress on hers - looking good, Feesha!

But what's a bee without great show n tell?

Sondra H made a beautiful quilt using a the corn and beans pattern, she has such a great eye for color!

And that border fabric?  It's a piece of "ugly" fabric she got from me!

Same quilt - set on point!

I think this one's my favorite  :o)

And here are a few blocks of the month.  This year we're doing two versions of the same block - one traditional and one "modern."

At some point I'll take photos of each version side by side to share with you.

Well, that's it for now, glad to be back and glad you're visiting me, Constant Reader!

I hope you're having a great day - sew forth and sew on til later!
